Blakeney Neighbourhood Housing Society

Blakeney and its neighbouring villages Wiveton, Cley, Morston and Langham lie on the North Norfolk Coast some 12 miles west of Cromer. Their local industries and agriculture and fishing have declined over the decades and most employment is now based on tourism.  The price of housing has risen steeply as many properties have become second homes or places to retire to and many local people can no longer afford to buy or rent them.

The purpose of the Blakeney Neighbourhood Housing Society, founded 1946, is to provide affordable housing for local people.  It owns 39 houses and cottages in Blakeney or neighbouring villages and they are all let at affordable rents to tenants with a local birth tie.

The Society continually seeks to increase its housing stock and to meet the high maintenance cost of traditionally built houses.
